My name is Antonella J. Abela and my husband's name is Charlie Christ Abela. We got married in the summer of 2014 on August 14th. Our wedding reception was held at Country Terrace at Mgarr, Gozo, Malta. The set up was amazing, the food was impeccable and the service was top-notch. The owner of the venue was continuously monitoring that everything was in order (without interrupting our fun.) He managed to make sure that everything was set up in place, that the food was served on time and that all the details that we wanted at our wedding reception was in place. (I found that quite amazing for just one person to do on his own.)
I recommend that anyone wishing to get married in Gozo, to choose to have their wedding reception at Country Terrace, they definitely will not be disappointed.
I rate this venue 5 for it's lavish and outstanding state and quality.
When we decided to get married in Gozo, many of our friends thought we were crazy and that we’d waste a lot of time trying to coordinate all the various suppliers and toing and froing from Malta to Gozo.
This wasn’t the case at all; from our very first meeting with Joseph Mercieca, we knew we had made the right decision. Joseph gave us his total attention and we discussed every detail. He was able to provide the contacts, there and then, for all the services we required, from the flowers to the DJ to the cake and even a lovely lady who provides wedding decorations specifically made for Country Terrace, which were certainly worth the extra euros because the place looked like a magical scene for our wedding. After Joseph introduced us to all these lovely Gozitans, we met them individually to discuss our requirements. What surprised us was that they all listened to what we wanted and didn’t try to coerse us into taking on anything extra that we didn’t want.
Joseph helped us select a wonderful menu (our friends are still talking about it till today). Being a sit-down dinner for around 80 people, we decided to send out the menu with our invitations, asking our guests to make their selections. This facilitated the smooth flow of each course. Joseph and his team knew exactly who had ordered what, and each table had their food presented together.
Country Terrace is an ideal location for a wedding. The view is probably the most beautiful one in the Maltese islands, with breathtaking views of Malta and Comino and the pretty Mgarr harbour. We selected the upper terrace for the civil ceremony, with our guests’ chairs facing the magical view and our prettily decorated arch, under which we said our “I do’s”. Once the formalities were over our guests enjoyed some lovely canapes and sipped on sparkling wine by the bar, with soft music played by our DJ, whilst the sun went down over the sea. We then settled down to our pre-arranged seating at gorgeous
round tables, all decorated so beautifully. Joseph was in control all the time, guiding us to stick to pre-arranged time schedules, each step of the way. Dinner flowed like magic, with Bruce and I getting up briefly between courses to chat with our guests at each table.
Once dinner was over, we took to the sunken gazebo for our first dance, which soon became a hub of activity with guests dancing the night away, only broken by the Cutting of The Cake. Joseph once again came to the rescue, otherwise we may have forgotten all about it! At no point did we feel hurried or rushed. Our beautiful wedding was over at about 3.00 am.
Bruce and I both feel that we couldn’t have had a better wedding. It was special from beginning to end. Joseph helped us to feel special and we couldn’t have asked for anything more; the location is beyond belief, the food absolutely divine and the service was one that I think will be hard to find anywhere else.
Thank you Joseph Mercieca!
