Before Booking a Venue – Questions You Must Ask

It is exciting to look forward to your wedding and book your venue, but before you make that deposit there are several questions you should first ask.

As with any contracts, be sure you read the fine print before signing anything with a venue. Local wedding planners can help you answer questions and give you inside information about vendor options.

  • What is included in my rental fee?

Each venue has its own rental fee policy. Make sure that you have clear information about how many hours the rental fee covers, including set-up and clean-up times. If you want more hours or better privacy with your rental, check to see if mid-week rentals give you more bang for your investment.

  • Is my venue exclusive?

If you envision a private, intimate ceremony, be sure to check the actual layout options. Some venues have private sections, while others book events near each other, which means you might not get privacy or the ability to play music as you would like.

  • What are my after-party options?

The law in Malta is that no outdoor music is allowed after 11 pm. Check with your venue to see if they have an after-party room so you and your guests can continue your celebration later into the night.

  • What are my catering options?

Not all venues will allow you to bring in outside caterers. Be sure to discuss your food options, not only for the dinner, but for the cocktail reception, dessert bar, and food options for your after-party. Some venues require a minimum number of guests to serve for catering. Also be sure to check with catering flexibility for those guests with dietary needs.

  • What are the options for kids and families at this venue?

Not all venues are as advantageous for families with young children. Be sure you understand the layout and amenities that can help make families feel as comfortable as possible.
